gLite Architecture
Glite consists of five main building blocks.
- Access services: provide via an interactive UI and a
programmable API access to the grid environment.
UI: user interface.
API: application programming interface.
- Security services: single sign-on use of services.
Public key encryption, X.509, SSL.
- Information and monitoring services:
Publish status of grid resources.
- Data services: provide access to SEs containing
(replicas of) files.
SE: storage elements.
- Job management services: assign via a WM system running on a RB
machine user jobs to CEs.
WM: workload management.
RB: resource broker.
CE: computing element.
