The SCIEnce project offers grants to attend the First RISC/SCIEnce Training School in Symbolic Computation. The grant covers the cost of an economy class travel to the school site and back, accommodations during the school, daily allowance, free registration, and school materials.

To be eligible to apply for the grant a person should be a member of a research group that satisfies the following two conditions:

  1. The leader and the majority of members are employed by institutions within European Community Member States (except Austria) or Associated States, i.e., Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Turkey, Iceland, Israel, Lichtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
  2. The group should be entitled to disseminate the knowledge they have generated under the project. The sole exception to this rule are groups from small or medium-sized enterprises (SME).

Students and researchers on the early stage of their career are especially encouraged to apply. Number of grants is limited.

Application Procedure

To apply, please send the following documents to Temur Kutsia by email, fax, or post before November 20, 2006:

  1. A short curriculum vitae.
  2. An extended abstract of at most 3 pages describing applicant's research where symbolic computation can be (potentially) used.
  3. For students, a document that confirms their student status (a copy of the student card, or a letter from the university) and a recommendation letter from the adviser.
Applications must be in English, in postscript or pdf format.
