Goals
The overall goal of this project is the development of algorithms and languages for parallel symbolic computation. We proceed from various existing parallel computer architectures, in particular, shared memory machines, and investigate parallel algorithms for important problems in symbolic computation and suitable language features for the implementation of these algorithms. One of the main goals of the project is the implementation of a toolkit for parallel computation research using various language approaches and hardware. The symbolic computation problems and algorithms studied in this project are taken from the research tradition of RISC-Linz in computer algebra.
