The Sphere The Torus Another Del Pezzo Surface
The sphere has a rational parametrization that can be calculated by stereographic projection. The Torus has several pencils of special rational curves, namely conics. Two of them are obvious (the rotating circles and the orbits of rotation). But there are actually two more pencils. One of them is shown in the animation above. This del Pezzo surface with equation
F=(x2+y2+z2)z-xy has an interesting singularity at (0,0,0), for which a nice parametrization is hard to find.
