Travel to Linz
  • By plane:
    Linz has an international airport (LNZ) with good connections to Vienna, Frankfurt, Zurich, London, Amsterdam and Brussels. From the Linz airport you can take a bus to the center of Linz (see the schedule here, connection from Flughafen LNZ to Linz. Note that on Sundays the connection is not so good.), or a taxi. Another alternative is train: Take a free shuttle from the airport to Hoersching train station and then get to Linz from there by train. Other international airports nearby Linz are Vienna (VIE, 2 hours by train/car) and Munich (MUC, 3 hours by train/car).
  • By train:
    Linz can also be conveniently reached by train from Vienna, Salzburg, or Munich (Train connections can be looked up using the Travel Planner).
  • Getting to Sommerhaus Linz and Arcotel from Linz Train Station:

    • To Hotel Sommerhaus Linz: Either by taxi or by tram No. 1 or No. 2 (Direction Universität, last stop). The tram stop is on floor -2 of the train station.
      • Timetable (Choose Linz in Town/District fields of departure and arrival, Hauptbahnhof in the stop field of departure, and University in the stop field of arrival).
      • Route, trams No. 1 and No. 2.
    • To Arcotel: Either by taxi or by tram No. 1 or No. 2.
      • Leave the tram at Hauptplatz. Walk for 15 minutes along Danube towards Lentos/Brucknerhaus/Arcotel.

Travel to Hagenberg
Shuttle service will be provided from the hotels in Linz to RISC.
  • By bus:
    Schedule of buses from Linz to Hagenberg and back can be found here. Select Hagenberg im Mülkreis Ortsmitte. The bus No.310 leaves from the platform C of Linz bus station, that is located next to Linz main train station, Linz Hauptbahnhof. The bus passes near Arcotel (bus stop Untere Donaulände, in front of the Lentos Museum) and not very far from Hotel Sommerhaus Linz (bus stop Altenbergerstraße). When in Hagenberg, leave the bus at the stop in front of the school (Volksschule) and walk 100 m towards the church/castle.

  • By train:
    (Train connections can be looked up using the Travel Planner).
    From Linz main train station (Linz Hauptbahnhof) take a train to Pregarten (Pregarten Bahnhof). From Pregarten train station take a small white bus, number 396, to Hagenberg (The schedule of this bus can be found here. Select Hagenberg im Mälkreis Ortsmitte). Leave the bus at the stop Hagenberg Ort (in front of the school, Volksschule) and walk 100 m towards the church/castle. One can also walk from Pregarten to Hagenberg. The distance is approximately 2 km.

  • By car:
    Take the highway (Autobahn) to Linz, and there take the highway A7 to Prague (Prag in German). About 15km outside of Linz the Autobahn ends. Go to the direction of Pregarten. About 1km before Pregarten you see the sign to Hagenberg (to the left).

    • Hagenberg plan with restaurants and ATM machines. Note that the ATM machines in Hagenberg operate between 06:00-24:00 and accept only Maestro and Mastercard.
    • Restaurants in Hagenberg:
      • Schlossrestaurant. Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday-Friday 10:00-23:00, Saturday 17:00-23:00, Sunday 10:00-20:00. Closed on Tuesdays.
      • Hofwirt. Closed on Sundays after 15:00 and on Mondays.
      • Horseman's Paradise. Opening hours: Monday-Saturday 10:00-02:00
      • Gasthaus Lamplmair. Closed on Wednesdays.
      • Gasthaus Hametner. Closed on Tuesdays.
      • Cafe Monika. Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday 08:00-04:00. Closed on Mondays.
    • Hagenberg-Pregarten plan. There are nice walking paths along the river Feldaist. It takes approximately 30-45 minutes to get from Hagenberg to Pregarten.
