AbstractIn order that the elimination method can be efficiently used for the forward kinematics of the general Stewart-Gough platform, the computation burden should be reduced. In this paper, an elimination-based algorithm is proposed, which demands fairly less computation time than the existing algorithms. This is mainly due to the fact that it finally leads to the 1515 Sylvester's matrix, which is relatively small in size, and the 40th-degree univariate equation is directly derived from the matrix. The algorithm is demonstrated by a numerical example.
